Teaching of modern languages ​​A LM Module “Processes, tools and methods in second language teaching” The teaching of Didactics of modern languages ​​A LM (Module “Processes, tools and methods in second language teaching”) is part of the activity related and supplementary training courses in the Master's Degree Course in Modern Languages ​​for International Communication, and specifically among the related activities aimed at deepening the skills in the field of language teaching. The course provides: Knowledge of the main results obtained by the different research traditions in the field of learning and teaching languages ​​(first, second and foreign). Knowledge of the different methodological orientations that guide the teaching intervention in the teaching of languages, with particular reference to Italian as L2 and to communicative approaches and especially to task-based teaching. Development of the ability to effectively use the main reference tools for those involved in language learning and teaching, in particular the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. Development of the ability to critically analyze teaching materials and digital educational technologies in the light of the knowledge acquired and through the use of specific observation tools. Expected learning outcomes: students will know the research results in the field of language learning and teaching; they will know the different methodological orientations of didactic interventions in language teaching; they will have the ability to use the reference tools for teaching and learning languages; they will be able to analyze teaching materials and digital teaching technologies using the knowledge acquired and the observation tools.

Programme

General part. An overview of some key issues in second language learning research, with particular reference to the way in which teaching can facilitate and speed up the natural process of language acquisition.
Focus. Two aspects will be discussed in detail: 1) the characteristics of Task-based language teaching, aimed to harmonise teaching programme and learners' internal syllabus, and 2) how to manipulate written input for comprehensibility and learnability (simplification vs elaboration of written texts).
