The student will acquire specialized skills on language, the history of linguistic thought and studies of historical linguistics, with reference to the problems of change and the methodologies of comparison and reconstruction; It also includes the study of linguistic variation, multilingualism and language contact, sociolinguistic and ethnolinguistic issues.
