The course aims to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of various theoretical and methodological aspects of Italian linguistics and the most important tools of the discipline, so that they can acquire a thorough preparation in the main fields of linguistic research.

Programme
The history of our language can also be read and studied using dictionaries which have described and codified it. The module focuses on the diachronic and synchronic study of the Italian lexicon through lexicography. After having clarified the basic terms of the discipline, we will retrace the history of dictionaries in Italy, from its origins to the present day; typologies and compositional structures of some important dictionaries will be examined.Core Documentation

Type of evaluation
An oral exam at the end of the course. It will assess: 1) the depth and breadth of the knowledge of the subject acquired; 2) command of the technical vocabulary; 3) the ability to bring together critically topics and issues dealt with during the course.
