The first part aims to clarify the boundaries of the discipline, the semantic system underlying it, as well as the theories concerning the adoption of alphabetic writing in ancient Greece.
The second part, entitled “The Greek Epigraphy of Rome”, will be an in-depth examination of Greek epigraphic material from Rome and Latium vetus. This section of the course will take up most of the teaching time, with a significant number of classes taking place outside to take advantage of the abundance of Greek epigraphic collections in various Roman museums and antiquaria. Due to the specific nature of this section of the course, the outdoor lessons will be arranged according to the students’ availability.
The third and final part of the course will be devoted to workshop activities.

In order to take the exam, students must have completed the assignment set during the course and handed it in at least one week before the exam date.
