teacher profile teaching materials
Since its origins, cultured literature in the Romance vernacular has been characterized by the centrality of the theme of love, beginning with poetry and courtly romance, which developed around the depiction of the relationship between two lovers, through the poetry of the 13th and 14th centuries, and ending with the great protagonists of the medieval literary scene: Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio. The course will retrace, based on the analytical reading of representative texts, some of the key moments in this journey, highlighting, among other things, the inseparable connection between reflections on love and poetry in the first centuries of Romance literature, analyzing its crystallization in the works of Dante.
