Programme

The following topics will be covered during the lessons:
- The characteristics and specificities of archival documents in the context of other cultural heritage items;
- The creation and management of archives for practical, administrative, and legal-evidential purposes;
- Historical archives and their preservation in the context of current legislation in Italy;
- Methods for organising and describing archives and related doctrinal developments;
- Tools for managing, searching and describing archival documentation;
- The role played by archives in medieval and modern times and in contemporary society.

Attendance at lessons is not compulsory, although it is strongly recommended.

Type of evaluation

The examination, conducted orally, will consist of assessing the following aspects: - knowledge of the topics covered during the lectures and the related bibliography; - ability to present the topics using the specific language of the discipline; - ability to provide a critical interpretation of the topics covered.
