Course Objectives: To deepen students’ understanding of Christian iconography through the study of themes, symbols, and artistic representations that evolved from late antiquity through the Middle Ages and beyond. The course aims to develop students’ skills in the critical analysis of images and figurative sources, in understanding the religious, cultural, and liturgical meanings of the works, and in interpreting the historical and artistic contexts in which they were created.
