20703166 - HISTORY OF THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE L.M.

The student will acquire the knowledge of the aspects, moments, questions, texts of the Italian linguistic history from the Origins to the present, with particular attention to the most ancient phases of our language and with particular reference to the medieval and Renaissance ones of the median area, and with specific attention to some paradigmatic cases. He will also acquire knowledge of the origins and foundations of Italian dialectology examined from a historical point of view.

The exam is oral and takes place at the end of the course, together with the exam for the “History of the Italian Language II” module for students who need to earn 12 cfu. Students enrolled in the course may take an oral exam at the end of the course, which will be held during the first part of the first semester (October–early November). The exam will focus on the texts included in the syllabus and the topics covered during the lectures. The exam consists of an oral discussion on the topics covered in the syllabus in order to assess: 1) the depth and breadth of the knowledge acquired; 2) the student’s command of language; 3) the ability to critically connect the themes and issues addressed.
