Fabio Crescimbini

Fabio Crescimbini (Taranto 1957), Full Professor of Electrical Engeeniring  in the scientific – disciplinary sector ING-IND/32 – Converters, Machines, Electric drives. He graduated in Electrical Engeeniring in 1982 from La Sapienza University in Rome and he received a Ph.D in 1987. He spent a period of study and research in the Department of Electrical and Computers Engineering of Wisconsin University – Madison – WI (USA) as a completion of his doctoral education in 1986.prof. Since 1998 he has joined Roma Tre University, at first as an associate professor and since 2004 as full professor. From 2006 to 2012 he was Head of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and member of the Board of Directors of Roma Tre University and he was elected for two consecutive terms as member of the Board of Trustees from November 2013 to October 2019.

He has been deputy Rector for infrastructure and safety policies from November 2019 to March 2022.

His main research interests cover the areas of power Electronics and electric drives with a special focus on applications such as electric or hybrid propulsion systems, renewable energy generating systems integrating energy storage, ships’ and aircrafts’ electric power generation. The most relevant studies include the experimental analysis of innovative electric machines and setups of electronic power converters. He has a scientific production of over 180 works being published on international scientific journals and on international conferences proceedings. Among his research activities , he achieved scientific results that led to the filing of international patents.

During the two-years period 2016-2018 he was member of the ASN commission in the scientific subject area 09/E2 Electrical Engeeniring

From 2015 to 2017 he was member of the Scientific Committee of research programmes CleanSky and CleanSky2, funded by the European Community to develop research activities in the field of civil aviation.

From 2010 to 2017 he was part, within the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) – UK, of the Editorial board of the intenational journal IET Electrical Systems in Transportation and since 2018 he has the role of Associate Editor.

Since 1990, he has contributed to scientific and organizational activities in the Industry Applications Society (IEEE-IAS) and in the Power Electronics Society (IEEE-PELS) as a member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He has been a founder and he is currently Chairman of the IEEE PELS-IAS Joint Chapter of the IEEE Italy Section. From 2001 to 2005 he was part of the IEEE-IAS Executive Board and he is currently member of the IEEE-PELS Administrative Committee as Europe – Africa Regional Chair.

Since 7 October 2022 he has been appointed once again Deputy Rector  for infrastructure and safety policies.
