Silvia Conforto, Deputy Rector appointee for Policies Related to Technology Transfer since January 30, 2025. Full Professor in the Scientific-Disciplinary Sector IBIO-01/A Bioengineering. Since July 2022, she has been the coordinator of Spoke 3 of Rome Technopole, the Innovation Ecosystem of the Lazio Region – Next Generation EU.
She was President of the Joint Student-Teacher Commission in the Department of Industrial, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering until June 2022, after which she was elected Coordinator of the Applied Electronic Section in the same department.
Since 2013, she has been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Interuniversity Center BoHnes – Bioengineering of the Human Neuromusculoskeletal System and a member of the Steering Committee of the University Center BIND – Behavioral Imaging and Neural Dynamics.
Her main research interests include biomedical signal and image processing, human movement analysis and motor control. She paid particular attention to the processing of surface myoelectric signals in static and dynamic conditions, in clinical, rehabilitation, and sports applications. In this field, she has also developed devices for sports performance evaluation, including one national and two international patents and has contributed to the introduction of quantitative methods for assessing biomechanical risk in ergonomic applications.
For years, she has been involved in teaching bachelor’s degree courses in Electronic Engineering and master’s degree courses in Biomedical Engineering. More recently, she has contributed to the project for the establishment of the interclass degree program in Biomedical Engineering.
She has been involved in various research projects funded by national institutions (FIRB, PRIN) and international institutions (EU-FP7). She has won the BRIC-INAIL 2015 and 2019 grants, as well as the PRIN 2022 grant. She is the author of over 200 scientific works.
