21010444 - THEORIES OF ARCHITECTURE

The course aims to provide students with a critical understanding of the main theories of architectural design, in relation to the history of architecture and to the social and cultural contexts in which these theories developed. Through the analysis of authors, texts and fundamental concepts (keywords), the course seeks to highlight the relationship between theoretical frameworks and their operational implications in the construction of architectural space.
The teaching activities are structured to promote autonomous critical skills in the reading and analysis of architectural projects and, above all, the appropriate use of disciplinary terminology. The comparison of different viewpoints, also fostered by the contribution of lecturers and guest speakers, is conceived as an essential tool for developing awareness and interpretative skills with regard to the central themes of the architectural debate and their intersections with the design process.
