The course provides a general understanding of the main actors, rules and processes of the modern media system. The first part of the course is devoted to a brief history of Italian journalism in comparison with some of the major foreign models. The second part is devotedto the impact of new media on the system of information and to new trends such as the citizen journalism and the Hybrid System
The course includes practical end theoretical exercises on various aspects pertaining to the production and the packaging of the news.

Programme

Course content: The course provides a general understanding of the main actors, rules and processes of the modern media system. The first part of the course is devoted to a brief history of Italian journalism in comparison with some of the major foreign models. The second part is devoted to the analysis of the main sectors of the Italian system of information - newspapers, television, radio, publishing, web - and to the structural and quantitative analysis of the market - investment, consumption, audiences. The third part is devoted to the acquisition of basic knowledge of the vocabulary of journalism and of the treatment process of the news. The fourth part of the course is devoted to the impact of new media on the system of information and to new trends such as the citizen journalism and the Hybrid System News.
The course includes practical end theoretical exercises on various aspects pertaining to the production and the packaging of the news.
