The course of history of Eastern and South Eastern Asia falls within the domain of the complementary learning activities of the Degree Course in Languages and Cultural-Linguistic Mediation, specifically among the complementary activities aiming at providing basic notions in the historical-political field.
The course aims to provide skills for the critical analysis of Chinese and Far Eastern history through the illustration and comparison between the Chinese Imperial era and the Republican period. It also aims to provide a knowledge of the cultural traditions, both Chinese and external, and their influence on the codification and legitimization of the Chinese imperial political culture before the transition to a national culture and up to the development of a modern Chinese state within the international order.
Expected learning outcomes:
Students will be able to critically analyze Chinese and Far Eastern history through the illustration and the comparison between the Chinese Imperial era and the Republican period. They will be acquainted with the cultural traditions, both Chinese and external, and their influence on the codification and legitimization of the imperial political culture before the transition to a national culture.

- The History of Modern and Contemporary China. - The History of Chinese Law; from traditional imperial law to socialist law, The codification under the Republic of China. Legal implications of the New Silk Road. Commercial and investment law. The new Civil code
- Historical framework of Japan, Korea, India, Taiwan, Vietnam and Indonesia.
