For both curricula, the international one and the one focused on the teaching of Italian as a second language, graduates in Languages and Literatures for Teaching and Cultural Professions obtain advanced knowledge and understanding in all the subject areas of their training in order to 1) consolidate and develop their competence in European and American Studies, with particular attention to their literature of specialisation; 2) deepen their knowledge of the two foreign languages chosen, with the achievement of a high level of proficiency in the first language and an improved level in the second language for the MULTIPLE curriculum or in the single foreign language chosen for the DIL 2 curriculum; 3) reach enhanced awareness of the linguistic features of their language of specialisation, both from a diachronic and a synchronic perspective; 4) reach an adequate knowledge of the most advanced methodologies for the analysis of literary texts; 5) handle confidently the theoretical-practical tools for teaching and for translation.
The course ‘La literatura española en la era digital: métodos y herramientas de investigación / Spanish literature in the digital age: methods and research tools’ is one of the characterising activities of the Master degree. The course aims to explore the relationship between text, author and historical-cultural context, making use of advanced methodologies of literary criticism and ecdotics, as well as digital tools for the analysis and interpretation of Spanish literary texts, further consolidating linguistic-communicative skills at an advanced level. Depending on the monographic course proposed, the course will provide advanced tools for research, initiation into the critical edition of texts, the management, valorisation and conservation of literary archives, also from a digital perspective, and the adaptation of literary texts to different contexts and formats. The skills acquired will enable students to work in traditional and digital publishing, in the management and digitisation of archives and textual heritage, as well as in the design of cultural content, including through innovative platforms, and will provide a solid basis for the possible continuation of studies in the field of academic research and higher education.
Requirements: Literatura española y patrimonio cultural: tradiciones, confluencias, manipulaciones.

Fausta Antonucci, “Una nueva herramienta para el estudio del teatro clásico español: Calderón Digital. Base de datos, argumentos y motivos del teatro de Calderón”, Bulletin of the Comediantes, 70: 1, 2018, pp. 79-95 (available on the Teams).
José Luis García Barrientos, Cómo se comenta una obra de teatro, Madrid, Síntesis.
Programme
The module aims to introduce students to the main tools for the study and research of literature that combine ‘traditional’ philological skills with the resources offered by digital technology, with a particular focus on those that support research into Golden Age theatre. Classwork will be primarily collaborative and workshop-based, and will consist of: training in advanced research using the most common databases, digital libraries and corpora useful to students of Spanish literature (particularly in the context of the Siglo de Oro); the development of topics for short critical essays to be constructed using data from the “Calderón Digital” database; the drafting of a synopsis in Spanish of an unpublished 17th-century play for the “Calderón Digital” database. The course will begin with a series of lectures in which the professor will: a) provide a general introduction to Golden Age theatre as a literary and cultural phenomenon; b) will explain the main challenges involved in the conception and design of a digital resource within the field of Golden Age theatre studies (with reference to “Calderón Digital”); c) will explain the methodologies for analysing Golden Age plays that will be used in drafting the synopsis for the “Calderón Digital” database.Core Documentation

Non-attending students are invited to contact the lecturer at least three months before the call to which they intend to attend: during the colloquium an ad hoc programme will be established with critical-literary integrations and exercises to be delivered in writing in Spanish before the oral test. Those who have not followed this procedure will not be allowed to take the final examination.Type of evaluation
Assessment will be based primarily on the results of the exercises set in class and to be completed independently (guided learning) during the course. Where necessary, this may be supplemented by an oral examination. teacher profile teaching materials
