The discipline refers to the primary sources of knowledge in its epistemological and critical aspects. The purposeful sense, therefore, within the specialist degree is to highlight the enhancement of knowing oneself in respect of the primary objective of ideas, of contemporary liberalism.

Programme

This course is a basic introduction to theory of knowledge, the branch of philosophy devoted to studying the nature, sources and limits of knowledge. The focus will be on the dispute between rationalism and empiricism. The defining questions of theory of knowledge include the following: 1) What is the nature of knowledge? 2) What are the sources of our concepts and knowledge? 3) What are the limits of our knowledge? The disagreement between rationalists and empiricists primarily concerns the second question. Also investigated will be the role of rationalism-empiricism debate in contemporary psychological sciences.
