Programme

After providing a general framework, some particular cases will be analysed in detail, useful to bring to light the links between national security and repression. The following topics were addressed during the seminar: the “internal enemy”; the 1960s between crisis and revolution; Kissinger, the United States and the coup d’état in Chile; the dictatorships in the Southern Cone; the Condor Plan and transnational terrorism; the Reagan administration and Central America; the cultural Cold War.

Attendance

Attendance at the seminar is mandatory. At the beginning of each meeting the signatures of those present will be collected. To obtain the credits it is possible to total a maximum of 4 hours of absence.

Type of evaluation

Final paper on a theme chosen by the student of up to 15,000 characters, including spaces and notes.
