Programme

The course will focus on the political history of energy and on the environmental consequences of the emergence of different energy regimes from the beginning of the industrial revolution to the present time. There will be a special focus on the emergence of oil and on the role petroleum has played in international relations.

Type of evaluation

- Each student will volunteer for one presentation; - Each student will prepare for the end of the class an essay (2500 words max) that might also be on the same topic as his class presentation. - The final exam will be an oral exam. Exams: Presentation and class participation: 25% Essay: 25% Final exam: 50% Total: 100% For NON-ATTENDING students, there will be only a final oral exam.
