The course aims to provide a basic understanding of the main events and problems in the history of the Catholic Church in the contemporary age, including in relation to other Christian religious denominations. It pays particular attention to the spatial and temporal placement of the topics covered, the discipline's specific terminology, and the meaning and role of the main religious institutions. It begins with a critical reading of documentary sources and an understanding of historiographical debates.
