Programme

"ITALIAN PHOTOGRAPHY AND IDENTITY: testimony and historical memory" is a laboratory, held by Manuela Fugenzi (photo editor journalist and photo critic) to offer an articulated activity on historical and contemporary photography, aimed at making the students understand the role of photography as witness of civil society and its narrative potential.

Topics and activities of the laboratory lessons:
• Identification of a social-historical theme on which to carry out iconographic research
• Analog photography, digital photography
• The language of the photographic sequence
• Photographic genres and online archives: accesses and research methodologies
• The archive photo card: verification of information and editing of the caption
Online iconographic research carried out by the students
• Selection of images and how to build a photo story in sequence
• Editing of the selected photographs and related captions, editing of texts and photographic credits
• Creation of a digital iconographic insert by PowerPoint program

Type of delivery of the course

The course will take place in the Multimedia History Laboratory at the Department of Humanities.   The seminar is divided into 12 lessons of 3 hours each for a total of 36 hours: 4 frontal lessons on history of photography and introduction to online iconographic research 4 laboratory lessons on the work of iconographic research applied to the theme assigned to the students, to be carried out in the laboratory 2 lessons of presentation, verification and selection of the collected materials 2 lessons aimed at building an iconographic insert in digital format

Type of evaluation

Attendance is mandatory, a maximum of 10% of hours of absence is provided, therefore 3.6 hours, as specified in the notice of participation in the laboratory. In case of illness students are required to present a medical certificate. The class register willbe delivered at the end of the course at segreteria didattica together with a report in which it will illustrate the work done, in the same report it will have to be indicated which students will be able to acquire the credits linked to the activities of the laboratory, through a SUITABLE / UNSUITABLE evaluation The evaluation will be carried out on the presentation by the student of the completed and realized work in powerpoint, during the last lesson of the laboratory
