Programme

The first part of the course is dedicated to the transformations taking place within the modern public and political scene and to the most relevant theoretical contributions in political communication. The main areas of transformation of Italian political communication and its actors and the evolution of electoral campaigns will be examined.
The second part, dedicated to visual politics, concerns the history and evolution of political graphics and aesthetic codes of Italian political propaganda from 1945 to today and the contacts and influences with the main artistic currents.
The concomitance with the administrative elections of autumn 2021, currently not yet fixed, will offer the possibility of carrying out monitoring and research in seminar form.

A specific objective of the course is to develop the skills and competencies for the historical, political and artistic analysis of visual and audiovisual propaganda materials, such as posters, films, commercials, that will be showed and commented on during the lessons.

Programme
